What can DFMA® software do?
DFMA® software helps the operational level find new solutions for simplification by asking methodical questions about functions and cost drivers, and helps estimate their costs in order to identify opportunities for cost reduction at the earliest stages of design. It provides management with important information about cost potentials and their effects so that decisions on new developments can be made earlier.
For which industries/products is DFMA® software best suited?
DFMA® can be applied to any electromechanical product that requires the manufacture of parts and their assembly, including the optimization of electronics. Apart from cultural/organizational challenges, there is no indication that DFMA® is more suitable for a particular industry.
Do you offer training courses that cover the DFMA® methodology but not the software?
No, the “doing” is provided by the methodological software as an expert system which, after on-the-job training, continues to support qualified users in the systematic approach. Although there are some basic “DFMA principles” that need to be learned, the methodology is data-driven with over 360 man-years of cost know-how and cannot be carried out with manual calculations.
